The International Women's Day was observed in the Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) campus by the Gender Sensitization Cell under the aegis of the University on 10th March 2022.
Dr. Leena K C Convener of Gender Sensitization Cell welcomed the guests and the gathering. Dr. Gladys Colaco Secretary/ Coordinator, Gender Sensitization Cell read the annual report of the cell and also highlighted the contribution done by the cell. The chief Guest Mrs. Corrine Rasquinha, Founder President White Doves shared her personal experiences. Further she emphasized that women's day is just one type of celebration to honor and respect women, and also expressed her opinion that every woman who plays a day-to-day role in their life to support their family, children, and friends should be recognised and awarded.
The Guest of Honor for the programme, Prof. Dr. Vina R Vaswani, she stated that bias is ubiquitous and that it has not been done in one segment of society, thus each individual should concentrate on overcoming the bias inside. The programme was presided by Dr. Nadish B T, Controller of Examination Yenepoya (Deemed to be University).
Mrs. Sabitha, PRO Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was honored for her significant commitment and service to the organization.
Mrs. Sunita Prabhu, Student Welfare Officer of the University, spoke briefly on the significance of commemorating Women's Day.
The winners of the competition organized under Gender Sensitization Cell were awarded with Certificates & prizes.
Gender Champion badges and diaries were distributed to the gender champions of all the constituent colleges. Dr. Shailesh Shenoy of Yenepoya Dental College proposed vote of thanks.
