In 2008, The Minister of Human Resources, Government of India decided and announced to celebrate Nation Education Day on 11th November to mark the birth anniversary of Indian independence activist, writer and first Minister of Education in the Indian government Dr. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad said by Mr. Nagaprasad Reddy, incharge Principal, Morarji Desai PU College, Deralakatte i n his welcome address in the national education day celebration organized by Students Council, Yenepoya Pharmacy College & Research Centre (YPCRC), Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) on 13.11.2021. Asst. Prof. Mrs. Nishmitha Dsouza read out the significance of the day and highlighted the history, life and ways o Abul Kalam. Chief guest Dr. Mohammed Gulzar, Principal, YPCRC added few insights on the contribution of Dr. Maulana Abul Kalam in the establishment of IIT and Universities Grants Commission (UGC) in India and he also mentioned that Dr Abul Kalam was awarded with prestigious Bharat Ratna award in recognition to his contribution in the field of Indian education. As a part of the event Asst. Prof. Dr. Symmayath T had given guest talk on the theme Healthy Life: Physical, Mental and Spiritual Wellbeing and Asst. Prof. Mrs. Tahreen Taj on Diet and Adolescence. Dr. Darshan C J conducted various psychological activities for both students and staff of Morarji Desai PU College and Mrs. Prajitha Biju, Chairperson, Student Council, YPCRC distributed prizes to all the winners and in her vote of thanks speech she acknowledge the management of Y enepoya and Morarji Desai PU College for their support in the organizing and celebrating Nation al Education Day and she also thanks her colleagues for educating students and staff of PU Coll ege on various themes.
