ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY - WORKSHOP

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Yenepoya Dental College organised a 2 day workshop on Planning and execution of Orthognathic Surgery. Dr. Sherry Peter and Dr. Latha P Rao, Consultant craniofacial surgeons from Aster Medcity, Kochi, were the resource persons.

The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr Dilip.G.Naik, Pro Vice Chancellor of MAHE, Manipal, Pro Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) Dr B H Sripathi Rao, Resource person Dr. Sherry Peter, Dean Faculty of Dentistry and Presiding Officer Dr. Sham S Bhat and Head of the Department Dr Jagadish Chandra. Dr. DilipNaik addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of orthognathic surgery and the importance of precision in performing orthognathic surgeries. Dr. Jagadish Chandra, Head of the Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery was the Organising chairman, Dr. Joyce Sequeira the Scientific Chairman and Dr Vinayakrishna the Organising Secretary.

The first day included lectures on evaluation and orthognathic surgery planning along with hands-on training on cephalometric analysis. Day 2 included lectures on various corrective surgical procedures and hands on osteotomy and fixation procedures on simulation models.

A total of 40 postgraduate students and 10 faculty members from the host and neighboring institutions participated in the workshop.
