DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WORK CONDUCTED THERAPEUTIC COUNSELLING INTERVENTIONS WORKSHOP AT YENEPOYA (DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY)

Department of Social Work conducted a two day workshop on Therapeutic Counselling Interventions at Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences campus at Mudipu.Dr B.H Sripathi Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was the chief guest and Dr Sunita Saldanha, Dean-Yenepoya Allied Healthcare and Professions was the guest of honor. Dr B.H Sripathi Rao spoke on the importance of counseling in patient care and role of social workers in alleviating the problems of various category of clients in their professional career. Dr Sunita Saldanha in her address highlighted the mental health problems of the students and opined counselors would have challenging roles in resolving such issues.

Dr Mohammed Guthigar, head of the department of Social Work welcomed and Reeti Rastogi, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the Department of Clinical Psychology briefed the objectives of the workshop. Prof. Ismail B, HOD department of Statistics and Dr. Gladys Colaco, Associate Professor and organizing Secretary, department of Social Work were present on the dais. Ms. Zuha, proposed the vote of thanks and Ms.Ashitha Shaneejan, 2nd year MSW students compeered the programme.

Ms. Vicky Josvita DSouza, Mrs. Reeti Rastogi, Ms. Shwetha B and Mrs. Soumya Puthran,the teaching faculty from the department of Clinical Psychology and Yencourage, YNH Kankanady were the resource persons who conducted sessions on Stress management, Supportive psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational enhancement therapy and Life skills education for adolescents. The PG students of Social Work and Clinical psychology were the participants.
